I just got a MBP for work. Was wondering what folks favorite software is.

It has been about 4 years since I've had a MBP, so I'm sure there are a few new products out there.

    Appreciate any feedback.

    Howdy,

    Docker Desktop - Container software

FWIW, I used to use Docker Desktop as well - used it for a few years, until they changed their license. I use a corporate laptop for work and didnt want to confuse anybody around usage and licensing.

I discovered orb - IMHO its way better than Docker Desktop (I noticed it was faster), and it has a couple of other features that I use (easy to exchange files with containers, and the ability to run VMs as well as containers).

Thought I'd share in case you are not aware of it...

Thanks Deon, I had not heard of orb. I'll check it out.

Thanks Paulie for the list, that is what I was looking for.

Some apps I have found useful so far are:
    Maccy - Clipboard manager
MacPass - Keepass compatible password safe
Homebrew - Must have linux tools :-)
    iterm2 - ssh client

So... on all my other systems, aside from MacOS, I just use Docker CLI and portainer (for bigger systems)...

Hmmmm - whats this??? I hate that I have to install Docker Desktop on MacOS... haven't heard of Orb at all - but will take a peek!

Thank you much - this looks like a smarter solution for Apple hardware... gonna be hard suggesting it to OTHERS, but I appreciate this over the stupid Docker Desktop joint.... thanks Deon. :P

Dude - I know I've already replied to this a couple times, but I got a chance to dive into OrbStack a bit more... w0w - it freaking rocks! Not only does it just give me the docker CLI bin's that I was missing; it does SO MUCH more!

OrbStack also comes with Kubernetes support; another thing I've been learning on other systems... super cool that I have it on MacOS now, too.

My favorite bit, tho, is the WSL/WSL 2-like Linux Machines it can spin up!! Just like the WSL, its a one command (or click) to get Ubuntu, Debian, Kali - ANYTHING - spun up in MacOS - that is freaking COOL. Not like a full GUI VM, but it lets me use Linux on my MacOS Volumes... very useful!!

Thanks for suggesting OrbStack - its exactly what I was looking for. And even for users who prefer the Docker-Desktop GUI interface, I think Orb is the better choice as it has that for users who want it. This one is a WINNER!

I was having issues because with it being cluttered and I
was running things with lots of 'file/edit/help' items,
    things were covered up. :-)
