Forget the camping stove the Ecceluxe Go heats water itself, and accepts three different types of coffee pods, as well as fresh grounds
FULL STORY ======================================================================Dreame Ecceluxe Go: 30-second review The Dreame Ecceluxe Go is a compact, cordless espresso machine thats ideal for camping trips, hikes, and any excursions where you dont have ready access to a stove or kettle. Thats because, unlike most portable coffee makers, the Ecceluxe Go heats the water itself, after which its small but powerful pump extracts your shot of espresso.
The brewer itself is smaller than most travel mugs, and comes in a smart
carry case with a set of adapters that are compatible with three different types of coffee capsules, plus loose grounds. For the easiest brewing, just insert a Nespresso Original, Nestl Dolce Gusto, or ESE (Easy Serve Espresso) pod into the appropriate adapter and youre ready to begin. Brewing with cold water takes about six minutes, and you can brew two or three times on a
single charge. If you do have access to hot water, however, you can switch to direct brewing mode, which uses water directly from the water tank, and brews much faster. Latest Videos From TechRadar Watch full video here:
Its an excellent and very thoughtfully designed little brewer thats much more versatile than other portable espresso machines Ive tested. My only real complaint is that its easy to accidentally hit the touch-sensitive control button when handling and setting it up. Disclaimer Dreame has yet to announce a price for the Ecceluxe Go, so I have rated the device based solely on
design and performance. I will update this review with a value score when the price is published. None Dreame Ecceluxe Go: design Super-compact design, with carry case for attachments Charged via USB-C One control button, which cannot be locked The Dreame Ecceluxe Go is roughly the size of a soda can, and comes in a smart cushioned carry case together with a collection of attachments. These include three adapters that allow you to brew using Nespresso Original pods, Nestl Dolce Gusto capsules, ESE (Easy Serve Espresso) pouches, or ground coffee. Theres also a ring to help reduce mess when adding a dose of ground coffee, and a cup for your brewed espresso.
The Ecceluxe Go is charged using a covered USB-C port on the front, and is controlled via a small touch-sensitive LED display that lets you power the machine on, and switch between programs. Its responsive, and shows all the information you need: battery charge level, brewing program, and temperature. My only criticism is that its easy to accidentally press this screen when holding the coffee maker, and theres no way to lock it to prevent that happening accidentally. A physical power button, or a locking switch would make it perfect. (Image credit: Future) Design score: 4.5/5 Performance Two brewing modes: self-heating and direct Accepts three types of coffee pods, or ground coffee Extremely simple to use The Dreame Ecceluxe Go is refreshingly simple to use. First, choose the right adapter (they're color-coded, but each one also has a small illustration to make life easier), insert your coffee capsule or grounds, and screw it shut. Then just twist the adapter onto the base of the brewing unit, unfold its two support legs, place it on the
plastic coffee cup, and youre ready to begin.
The Ecceluxe Go has two brewing modes: P1, which heats water from room temperature before brewing your coffee, and P2 (direct extraction), which
uses water already heated to the correct temperature. Image 1 of 2 (Image credit: Future) (Image credit: Future) Image 1 of 2 View Original Image 2 of
2 View Original Brewing using P1 isnt quick it takes six minutes for the Ecceluxe Go to reach its brewing temperature of 203F / 95C, then extract a shot of espresso but thats understandable. A machine this compact has a tiny heating element and small battery, and since youll be using this mode on the move, you can carry on with other camping or work tasks while its working. A loud beep will let you know when your drink is ready, and the Ecceluxe Go
will turn itself off automatically when its finished.
P1 also uses a lot of power, and the battery will be completely drained of charge after two or three brews. Thankfully, the USB-C connector means its easy to change indoors or in a car, so it will be ready the next time you
need a pick-me-up. (Image credit: Future) If you have access to a kettle, P2 takes a fraction of the time and power, and still yields a nicely extracted shot with a respectable layer of crema. In fact, the Ecceluxe Go would make a great single-serve coffee maker for small apartment or van living. Its much more compact and versatile than even the smallest Nespresso or Keurig coffee maker, and practically mess-free. The adapters and coffee cup can all be cleaned by hand using warm water, and will air-dry in only a few minutes.
I test a lot of coffee makers here at TechRadar , and Ive become particularly fond of the Ecceluxe Go. It takes all the hassle out of brewing delicious espresso at camp, or even on a break mid-hike. The days of drinking lukewarm coffee from a flask at lunchtime are over. Performance score: 4.5/5 Should

Design
Super compact and cleverly designed I only wish the control button could be locked to avoid accidental presses.
4.5/5
Performance
Incredibly easy to use with fresh coffee or pods. Direct and self-heating brewing modes produce delicious coffee, although bear in mind that self-heating takes six minutes and uses a lot of charge.
4.5/5 Buy it if You love camping or hiking
This is the perfect brewer for off-grid adventures. Charge it up, pack a couple of coffee pods, and you can brew up anywhere using water from your drinking bottle.
You have a tiny home
No space for an extra appliance on your counter? The Ecceluxe Go is ideal, particularly if you use its fast direct brewing mode. Dont buy it if
Youre making coffee for a group
The Dreame Ecceluxe Go can only hold enough charge to make two or three
drinks at a time in its self-heating mode. If you want to prepare drinks for more than a couple of people, youd be better off with a large camping kettle and an AeroPress XL. Dreame Ecceluxe Go: also consider
AeroPress Go
The classic AeroPress in a super-portable format that all packs down into a travel cup. You'll need a way to heat your water, and it doesn't accept
coffee capsules, but it's a great-quality, affordable way to brew on the
move.
Wacaco Nanopresso
The Nanopresso is a hand-pumped espresso machine, so there's no need to worry about charging or batteries. There's even an adapter available for Nespresso Original pods, but it can't heat its own water. How I tested the Dreame Ecceluxe Go I used the Dreame Ecceluxe Go for two weeks instead of my usual espresso machine. I tested it with Nespresso Original style capsules (from a local coffee roaster), Nestl Dolce Gusto pods, Illy ESE pods, and freshly ground coffee beans.
I tested the Ecceluxe Go's self-heating and direct extraction modes, timing how long it took to extract a shot of coffee, and monitoring how far the battery charge level dropped after each brew.
