Black text comes out crisp and professional-looking thanks to pigment-based black ink, which is also smudge-resistant and long-lasting. Color documents take a bit longer, but the dye-based C/M/Y inks produce bold, vibrant
results, and we found the colors bonded particularly well with coated photo paper for genuinely good-looking prints.

The photo printing features are what set this printer apart from typical budget all-in-ones. We especially liked the novelty of the printer flipping a photo over and printing details on the back a feature that, as far as we've seen, is exclusive to this HP line. With Display P3 color support via the HP Smart app, this printer takes casual photo printing more seriously than most machines in its price bracket.

Now for the honest part. We found the Envy 6555e slow at printing large text documents if you're in a hurry, this isn't the printer for you. The unusual form factor, with the paper tray sticking out at the front, also takes up
more desk space than a typical small all-in-one, and we found the front lip tended to catch dust and crumbs, which then get channeled into the printer.
