in theaters on May 29, 2026 Backrooms is one of the many new movies to look forward to in May, and fans have stumbled across some excellent, but very creepy marketing out in the wild.

I'm a huge fan of how horror movies find ways to freak out their audiences long before they've even seen the movie. Recently I was impressed by Weapons
' viral marketing , which created a fake missing persons website to grab people's attention. Since Backrooms is essentially an alternate dimension that's similar to our own, they've really pushed the boat out and started freaking fans out by placing fake doorways in real-life liminal spaces, which an Instagram post described as "overlooked corners, alleyways, and blank architectural spaces".
