Following the departure of the Progress MS-33 cargo spacecraft from the International Space Station on Sept. 7, Progress MS-35 is expected to launch to the Station on Wednesday, Sept. 16. The cargo spacecraft will deliver pressurized and unpressurized cargo to the station that will sustain the current Expedition 75 crew.
Launch from Kazakhstan
A Soyuz 2.1b rocket will launch the Roscosmos Progress MS-35 cargo vehicle to the International Space Station (ISS) from Site 31/6 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The rocket is expected to launch on a northeasterly trajectory at 13:33 UTC during an instantaneous launch window. This is necessary for a launch to the ISS, as vehicles need to launch when the ISSs orbital plane is aligned with the launch site. This allows the spacecraft to reach an orbit that matches the Stations inclination, enabling a quicker,
more efficient rendezvous.
Roscosmos delayed an earlier launch attempt on Sept. 9 due to issues with Soyuzs third stage. The vehicle was rolled back to the assembly building and faulty parts were fixed before it returned to the pad for the current launch attempt. The Soyuz 2.1b vehicle is a three-stage, medium-lift rocket developed by Roscosmos. Four liquid-fueled RD-107A boosters surround the second core
stage, which is powered by a single RD-108A engine. The third stage utilizes
a single RD-0124 oxygen-rich staged-combustion engine. All three stages utilize kerosene (RP-1) and liquid oxygen (LOX) propellants. See Also

Standing 46.3 m tall with a total liftoff thrust of 4,550 kilonewtons (kN), the Soyuz 2.1b vehicle can deliver up to 8,670 kg to low-Earth orbit (LEO). This mission will be the sixth Soyuz 2.1b launch of 2026 and the 105th overall.
The Progress MS-35 vehicle and mission
Roscosmoss Progress MS-35 spacecraft will deliver 2,600 kg of cargo to the ISS. This will include pressurized cargo such as food, science supplies, and Station maintenance equipment. Alongside the pressurized goods will be items such as fuel that can be pumped directly into the Zvezda modules propulsion system, potable water, and gases to replenish the onboard atmosphere.
The Progress MS-35 spacecraft has a total launch mass of 7,280 kg and can carry up to 2,600 kg of payload. The vehicle is 7.4 m long and has a diameter of 2.7 m. Once Soyuz has placed the spacecraft in orbit, Progress will spend approximately 48 hours and complete 34 orbits to catch up to the Station. The vehicle is expected to dock to the ISSs Poisk zenith port on Friday, Sept.
18, at 18:37 UTC. Progress will use the primary automated rendezvous system, Kurs-NA, to dock to the Station; however, the Teleoperator Control Mode
(TORU) will also be available. TORU is a manual docking system that allows cosmonauts to dock a vehicle to the Station if the automated system fails.
The departure of Progress MS-33 from the ISSs Poisk zenith port cleared the way for the new Russian cargo vehicle to launch. Progress MS-33 undocked from the Station on Sept. 7 at 18:27 UTC and destructively reentered Earths atmosphere, safely ending its mission. Roscosmos first developed the Progress spacecraft in 1978. The original Progress 7K-TG vehicles supplied the LEO stations Salyut 6 , Salyut 7 , and Mir . The current Progress MS series has flown since 2015, resupplying the
ISS alongside SpaceXs Cargo Dragon vehicle. The launch of Progress MS-35 to the ISS will be the 188th overall flight of a Roscosmos Progress vehicle.
The current Expedition 75 crew is awaiting the launch of the NASA/SpaceX Crew-13 mission to the orbiting laboratory. The Crew-13 mission was
originally scheduled to launch in mid-September; however, during routine pre-launch preparations, engineers discovered a leak in the spacecraft.
SpaceX and NASA later announced that they had discovered an oxidizer leak and delayed the mission to perform additional testing and complete necessary reworks. A new launch date has not been publicly announced.
