  • Walter Koenig Dead at 90

From Vaelen@21:1/141 to All on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 14:48:58
I just saw the news that Walter Koenig has died at age 90. He was, of
course, great as Pavel Checkov in Star Trek, but my favorite of his
characters was Agent Bestor from Babylon 5. I'm glad he lived a long
and happy life and was well loved. He will be missed.

That leaves only Shatner and Takei left from the original
Star Trek main cast. They are legends, heroes of sci-fi.
I really liked the Chekov/Uhura scenes in Star Trek Voyage
    Home. "Nuclear wessels" of course.

I worked near where Chekov was looking for the wessels at the time.
Loved that scene. The USS Enterprise (aircraft carrier, not starship)
wasn't home-ported in Alameda, but the Hornet might have been there.

I'm glad he lived a long and happy life...

How do you know he was happy? Read his book, Checkov's Enterprise.

The most-recent voice actor for several of the Looney Tunes characters, Eric Bauza, also passed away this week.

I loved bester! I loved to hate that character! That was probably his best
    part ever.

Apparently, he wrote sci-fi comedy too:

"From the mind of Walter Koenig (Star Trek: The Original Series, Babylon 5) comes Buck Alice and the Actor-Robot - a science-fiction comedy unlike anything you've ever heard before! When an alien invasion annihilates most of humanity, it's up to a small pocket of survivors to restart civilization. There's just one problem: they're all losers."
