Went and saw this at the movies a few days ago.
I really enjoyed it and the author of the story clearly spent a lot of time trying to ground the plot in actual science... sure there are bits the stray into the 'science fiction' space (and that's fine) but there were clear efforts to make the script scientifically credible which I think is to be commended..
This movie is by the same team that did The Martian a number of years
ago.

We somehow scored early access tickets and got to see it the Monday
before it was officially released. Thought it was a great movie, so
much so that we're going to see it again later today, this time in IMAX 70mm.
I loved The Martian as well. It also received a lot of praise for sticking close to the science.
I've listened to the audiobook for The Martian and am now going to start on the Project Hail Mary audiobook.
I felt that way about The Martian, too. Even if it weren't well
grounded, the writing seems believable enough to 'be there'.
Certainly entertaining - it's not too often I see a 2.5 hour movie and don't feel like I've sat through a 2.5 hour movie! :-)
