I wonder if people generally felt that way when it came out, because there's only one season. But we're also curious to watch the reboot series from 2003/2004 - I've heard that was fairly popular.

    Really? What confused you?

I wonder if people generally felt that way when it came out, because there's only one season.

The main reasons were due to:
    1) The show was constantly being pre-empted for one special or another, so
    gaining an audience was difficult.
    2) Cost (probably the main reason). Each episode cost about a million
bucks. It was the most expensive TV series to date (1978).

Granted, it wasn't perfect, but considering it was the '70s, producing a weekly space adventure show, without the use of CGI, is pretty impressive.

As I said, it just seems a bit hard to follow. One thing is that it seems to suddenly switch from one scene to another without a setup for context, so it has been a bit difficult to follow what all is going on. Also maybe the pacing is another thing..

I'm a long-time fan of the series and while it has some production issues, I've never had a problem flowwing the episodes. Couple Qs: Are you sure your watching the 1978 Battlestar Galactica and not Galactica: 1980, 'cause that show definitely had issues in those areas. If "Yes", are they unedited episodes (from DVD/streaming); episodes from TV tended to get chopped up to allow for more commercials.

I started watching Star Trek: The original series in reruns in the 70s
and 80s. Didn't realize how much was cut to make room for more
commercials until I saw the unedited episodes online!

There were a couple of examples where watching the original editions
    made a lot more sense.

For example, in "What are little girls made of?", before Kirk is
duplicated, he mutters to himself the Vulcan slur that the
duplicate Kirk says to Spock, which tips Spock off that he's a
    duplicate.

Hopefully that's not spoiler material to anyone - it's been 60 years!

There's a facebook group that denies the second season ever existed. It
wasn't the same without Victor Bergman pondering their situation,
    saying things like...

"The intrinsic unknowability of the Human Experience..."

"We have learned many things, but most of all that we still have much to learn."

Story was, they were given money for the second season by partnering
with an Italian studio, which is why so many extras and secondary
characters have accents. They leaned way too hard on Maya as well.

There was some speculation about Space:1999 happening in the same
universe as the Anderson's previous show, UFO. I would have liked to see
    more tie-ins.

Wow, I guess I'm a little too into it.

The Eagle was a great design. Loved how they modified it into the Hawk,
the swift and others. The guys who designed ships for that show were on
a breakneck schedule, this was long before multi-month hiatuses.

You must've watched the theatrical version, which was a stand-alone movie. It also included scenes missing from the TV version. Conversely, the TV pilot has scenes the theatrical version doesn't. The pilot for Buck Rogers was treated the same way.

Not sure if I posted this here yet.. in episode 6, some Cylons are walking around on their ship.. a couple of them go to pull some levers.. others are doing work.. then for a second it cuts to one Cylon standing around watching demos :D. Aha! So I'm not crazy and Baltar doesn't become leader of the Cylons.

Well, he never become Imperious Leader. He's merely granted a Basestar to hunt down the Galactica.

in episode 6, some Cylons are walking around on their ship.. a couple of them go to pull some levers.. others are doing work.. then for a second it cuts to one Cylon standing around watching demos :D.

Demos? Do you know the episode title or briefly what it's about?

Ever see the crewman on the original Star Trek series turning an imaginary wheel in the hallways of the enterprise as Kirk and Spock walk by?

Do you recall which episode this was or what the story was about?
