I havent been importing nodelists from fidonet/micronet into clrghouz - and had I been, then it should have de-activated that route as a way to contact him.

Unfortunately I've been time poor the last couple of months, so some fine tuning that I know I need to put into clrghouz hasnt been done (nodelist processing is one).

On the flip side, its been running well now pretty much on autopilot, providing mail for a few networks to 50 or so nodes daily so happy with that. Last I looked it had 900,000 echomails, so I should think about implementing a delete capability. Although on the flipside, it might be nice to keep this history, I think there is about 5 years worth in it now.

As it happens, I'm off work for the next 4 weeks overseas, while my kids are at a tennis camp, so Im hoping to have some time to finish off long overdue work on another project, and get back into doing more work on clrghouz.

One of the things I was considering adding to clrghouz was news to ftn gating, but I didnt look to far into it because of the effort to setup a news server, then learn the protocol and gate the mail. If there is a reasonable amount of interest (given that Paul is shutting down his gateway) I may look at it again.

It was no problem, It is always good to have a last resort system to contact dead nodes. It annoys me that they just walk away from a system.

No. But I occasionally look for people I know/knew. 4 or 5 amateur radio operators I knew passed away in 2025. My wife just lost her dad last Tuesday. One of the apparent requirements is to publish an obituary.

I'm on the coast, I suppose technically outside of the bay area. Busy, alternating between unseasonably warm+sunny and shockingly cold. I've
been making the commute to Oakland 2x/week, it's fun to go back and see

I lived in an odd building in the 90s. The building took up the corner
and a good fraction of the block, right on the high street. The building
had a parking area in the back with lots of storage areas. Bottom floor

a jewelry store. On top of the stores were 3 apartments, with the top
apartment (mine) built on the roof. My living room had weeping views of downtown Oakland, the Bay bridge, San Francisco, the Golden Gate bridge,

Next door to the building was THE PUB. That's all the sign said. It was
a house turned into a bar/coffee shop/discussion salon with individual
rooms, well-worn books, a fireplace, board games, a community bulletin
board (the cork kind) and two smoking porches. A couple of beers on tap,
wine, coffee, cigars, pipe tobacco and all cash. Sales were written down
on a steno pad. Outside food was allowed, if not simply ignored.

We had many, many BBS gettogethers there.

A few years ago, one of the "othernets I belong to" hub accidentally deleted a few of us when he made some changes to his portion of the nodelist. I was
able to catch it the same day the list was published. It only took a week to get it corrected. Now, I'm checking every week right after mystic compiles
the nodelist, just in case!
