    i thought of one that would probably work as a bbs door game

    Dragon Warrior Monsters is a GameBoy game where you basically collect monsters (enemies you've beaten and then level up) and make a team to bring around through dungeons.

    what'd work for BBSes i think is the main map is small (a tree, with a small castle and some hangout areas) and everything combat related you basically teleport to a little (randomly generated?) map with something like 3 to 10 levels which work like LORD 2 .. random encounters RPG style. basically just to try to level up, with some sort of boss at the end (a rare monster to collect?). target these maps to take maybe 10-15 minutes or something? (you can tell the gameboy game is designed for trips in the car or a few battles before bed)

    there's an arena with NPC fights (3 rounds per level) and if you complete the arena fight the next set of dungeons is opened for you to teleport to (usually two new dungeons per level).

    and then you build a tree to lay out which monsters you can breed together to make other monsters.
